Summer school

My son attended gifted and talented summer school all week! Two years ago this would have seemed impossible! And he's LOVE it. Such a sweet feeling!

What Would You Read Wednesday

So I've been thinking of books lately (what's new), and I decided that maybe on Wednesdays we can talk about books we just can't get over. Has there ever been a book that just stuck with you? One that you read over and over again? I'd love to hear about them. Maybe add them to my "to read" list (like I need more books on that list)!

For me, the first and most obvious, is the Harry Potter series. There is something, literally magical, about those books. I could read them again and again. I fall into the world and the characters and just love them!

Another would be Gone With the Wind. I read this long ago, but something about the setting and the telling of the story has stayed with me ever since.

The last I'll list for today is Loving Frank, by Nancy Horan. I am not an avid reader of historical fiction, but this book was recommended to me and it was very well written. I felt the characters very deeply.

Okay, so I could list many more, but I'll save them for another Wednesday.

It's Wednesday...what would you read?

Welcome!

I started this blog to talk about life as a special needs mom and life as a special needs teacher. I'd love to post things that are going on with me as the mother of an 11 year old with aspergers and as a teacher of middle school students with cross cat disabilities. I'd love to hear from other people who are striving, like me, to be a great mom and a great contributor to future societies by teaching. I LOVE teaching and I LOVE being a mom! I am made to do both, but some days, both are hard! Some days, I would love to hear, hey...I've been through that. Some days, I'd love to not feel alone in my struggles. I'd also love to share my joys. There are days when something happens with my kids or my job that I just burst to share. Sometimes, I think the only people who will truly feel this joy might be complete strangers who love education and parenting as much as me. I love to read, I am constantly reading for pleasure and for learning. I love young adult books, I love mysteries, I love books about getting kids fired up about learning. I love to read! So, I am starting a blog. I'm not sure how great this will be but I'm starting it anyway. Maybe we can grow and share together!
